When I started building homes in New Mexico back in 1965, I had no idea how much influence technology would have on our industry. What I did know was that I staked my personal reputation on every new home I built. Now, thanks to advanced design, engineering and construction techniques, New Mexico’s largest home builder, Artistic Homes is pleased to announce the most revolutionary homeowner’s guarantee ever offered. And, as always, we’re staking our reputation on it.

THE HEATING & COOLING COST GUARANTEE
We clearly mark every Artistic Homes floorplan with the average amount you can expect to pay in heating and cooling bills. The amount is calculated on an annual basis as an average portion of total home energy usage, so your monthly bills may very. If your actually heating and cooling costs are less than the estimate, you pay less. But, if they’re more, Artistic Homes will refund you the difference after 12 months*.

THE COMFORT GUARANTEE
You can be confident you and your family will be comfortable in your new Artistic home. In fact, we’re so sure, we guarantee that if you follow our recommendations (like keeping windows closed, leaving your air condition on throughout the warm season, etc.), temperatures from room to room will vary no more than 3 degrees!
AIRTIGHT CONSTRUCTION FOR BETTER AIR QUALITY
Did you know that most traditionally built homes leak air through literally hundreds of unseen locations? That can mean out-of-control heating and cooling bills. It can also mean a lot of less-than-desirable additions to your home’s environment...like dust, dirt, pollution. The good news is that at Artistic Homes, we’ve solved the problem.
We build your home better, right from the start. We begin by sealing the “sill plate,” where the actual foundation of your home meets the wood framing. Then we carefully seal the places—both obvious and not-so-obvious—that cause your home to leak unnecessarily...electrical wiring holes, exhaust and fresh air ducts, plumbing holes, heating, cooling and jumper ducts. This airtight construction makes heating and cooling easier to control; it also means your heating and cooling systems work more efficiently, so costs of operation are reduced. In fact, your Artistic Homes heating and cooling ductwork is tested to ensure there are virtually NO leaks! Meticulous attention to airtightness also means that most dust, dirt and pollutants stay outside. Not in.
VENTILATION: FRESH AIR IN, STALE AIR OUT
Now, let’s take a look at the role of adequate ventilation. Your new Artistic Home is designed to allow fresh air in and stale air out. Kitchen cooking surface ventilation, bathroom ventilation and dryer ducting are three of the ways we help your home breathe, by eliminating odors while reducing moisture and heat buildup. We’ve installed a special fresh air vent that actually exchanges stale air for fresh air throughout the day and night.
AIR BARRIERS & THERMAL BARRIERS: UNDERSTANDING INSULATION THE WAY IT SHOULD BE
Want to see an example of intelligently designed, perfectly installed insulation? Look in the mirror. Really! When it comes to insulation, it doesn’t get more efficient than the human body. Think of your skin as an “air barrier,” your body’s first line of defense against the elements. Unfortunately, even though your skin is moisture-resistant, it’s pretty thin. That’s why there’s a thin layer of fat and a system of small blood vessels and sweat glands just beneath your skin. We’ll call this your “thermal barrier.” Your skin and the insulation beneath it are fused inseparably. And the two “barriers” work together nearly perfectly.
The insulation in your new Artistic home works a lot the same. First, we define an “insulation boundary” for the entire home comprised of sheetrock and insulation material; this ensures you that both the air and the thermal barriers are installed together...so your entire house is protected. Then we make certain the insulation is installed with no gaps or voids; we install it in such a way that it’s not compressed or improperly aligned, so leakage in minimized. Finally—like the insulation system in your body—we make sure the thermal barrier touches the air barrier at every point in the envelope that encloses your home. And we inspect it, just to make sure! We install properly sized mechanical equipment; this not only lowers building costs, but also reduces wasted materials and (ultimately) wasted energy, then we blow our insulation in so we’re certain of full coverage and proper installation. And properly installed insulation helps keep out noise pollution like airtight construction keeps out air pollution...so your new Artistic Home will be quieter than apartments or most traditionally built homes.
The result? A higher quality, quieter, more comfortable home. A home that works at maximum efficiency—with lower heating and cooling bills guaranteed—every season of the year.
THE TECHNOLOGY OF COMFORT...REFRIGERATED AIR
Artistic Homes are the product of a combination of leading edge technology and hand-built craftsmanship. For example, we utilize refrigerated air conditioning systems. Refrigerated air allows you to set your thermostat at a comfortable level, leave your doors and windows closed, and remain cool and comfortable all summer long. That’s why it’s called a “closed system” - because your summer cooling works just like your winter heating, using recirculated air to make (and KEEP) your home comfortable.
Healthier than a swamp cooler? You bet. There’s no stale water, no excess humidity...and virtually no pollen, smoke, dirt or dust. You should leave it on all the time because it works more efficiently and it’s thermostatically controlled...and there’s no more need to adjust your windows for airflow.
Maintenance costs (including filter changes) are lower, too. And refrigerated air can save you up to 15,000 gallons of water a year.
Your new Artistic home is blower tested and ventilated (slightly pressurized), so exterior gases and pollutants stay out. So, your heating and cooling systems distribute air evenly and comfortably throughout your home.
THE TECHNOLOGY OF BETTER LIVING
At Artistic Homes, we use technology to build a better home from the inside, out. In fact, we’re a leader in the GREEN BUILDER program. Here are a few reasons: First, we use engineered lumber, which is designed for maximum strength. (Finger joint studs, for example, are straighter than conventional studs, so they use less lumber.) Likewise, our trusses are specially engineered to bear maximum weight on a minimum amount of wood. These measures not only save natural resources, but also help reduce the cost of your home. And, we use 2” x 6” wood for framing to allow for more insulation and greater comfort. And, of course, we recycle our scrap lumber to help the environment and lower costs.
Inside, low-flow toilets as well as water-conserving shower heads and outdoor faucets help conserve our most precious natural resource and lower water bills. We even insulate garage doors to keep you more comfortable, especially in summer!
Outside, we use acrylic stucco; this state-of-the-art technology allows our stucco to “breathe,” so it resists cracking or staining...makes clean-up easier, too! And, for maximum strength, security and protection, we use block walls instead of wood fences. Finally, we use only stable, low volatility paints for a safe and healthy environment.
A NEVER-ENDING PROCESS OF IMPROVEMENT
Your home is very likely the largest, most important investment you’ll ever make. At Artistic Homes, our goal isn’t just to build the best home on the market for the money. It’s to build the best home on the market...period! Now that you understand how we build our homes and guarantee them, we hope you’ll compare Artistic Homes with those of our competitors and see for yourself.
That’s why we’re constantly working to improve the way we build our homes...through technological research, experimentation, and relentless testing. So your new Artistic home is the result of over 3 decades of effort toward providing you the most possible value per square foot. A home that’s designed to provide you with years of maximum comfort, efficiency and livability.
At Artistic Homes, you have our word on it...in writing!
